INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN PORTFOLIO

I am originally from northern Virginia and I currently reside in Georgetown, Texas and I hold a Master's of Science in Instructional Design & Technology at Trevecca Nazarene University.

 
In 2010, I moved to Palo Alto, CA where I taught Kindergarten through third grade in a private school setting for eight years.

During my time as an educator and budding instructional designer, I found myself as the teacher who always helped other teachers "figure things out." Whether it was helping them build out their thematic curriculum or navigating the LMS platform that I co-designed with engineers and UX designers. I enjoyed sharing my knowledge with my colleagues and helping them create effective and engaging lessons. Although I loved being an educator, I realized how much I enjoyed working with adult learners.

In 2018, I decided to make a career change as an instructional designer in the corporate setting where I worked for a government contracting firm. There, I developed a passion for helping companies and clients create innovative learning experiences that align with organizational goals and empower learners. I was even given the opportunity to contract with Amazon Global Robotics where I created Rise-based and Xyleme-based training programs for their technicians who work on their autonomous robots.

I enjoy creating all types of learning solutions, such as eLearning, video, instructor-led, and blended. I also believe that learners learn best when they are motivated, engaged, participating in a bit of competitiveness, and able to connect to the content; so I always try to incorporate storytelling, gamification, and technology into the products I create. 

As a professional, I am constantly looking for new things to learn and new ways to challenge myself in my instructional design career. Over the past couple years, I earned my ATD Instructional Design Certificate, Adobe Certified Professional: Adobe Captivate Certificate, Google Certified Educator: Level 1 Certification, and have attended numerous professional development classes to improve my professional skills such as Briefing and Presentation, Business Writing, and Project Management.
